Dr Diana Foo is a senior clinician-researcher and Director of Human Physiology Lab at Sarawak General Hospital Clinical Research Centre (CRC SGH). Her work focuses on echocardiography, heart failure, cardiometabolic disease, atrial fibrillation, and digital health, bridging primary and tertiary care to enable early detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

 

Since 2014, she has led multiple investigator-initiated cardiovascular research projects and later expanded collaborations with industry partners through global hybrid and industry-sponsored clinical trials. She is an active member of several international research networks, including INTERASPIRE Steering Committee, Asia Pacific Cardiovascular Research Network (ASPIRE), and AF Screen International Collaboration; and served as European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Heart Failure Association Young Ambassador representing Malaysia (2023–2024).

 

Since 2017, Dr. Foo has led transformation of CRC SGH Human Physiology Lab into a medtech research hub integrating digital health innovations from hospital to community care. In recognition of her work in digital health and cardiovascular prevention, she was selected as a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader in 2023. Her AI-enabled community heart failure screening initiative was selected for Late-Breaking Science at ESC Heart Failure Congress 2025.

 

She has received multiple Young Investigator Awards across national, ASEAN and Asia Pacific cardiovascular congresses, was named one of Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (2023), and was recently elected Fellow of ESC Heart Failure Association.
