Prof Dr Ivy Chung is a Professor of Pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. Her research focuses on advancing biomedical innovation to deliver affordable healthcare solutions, with an emphasis on cancer research, drug repurposing, and translational medicine. She bridges academia, industry, and government to ensure that scientific discoveries translate into tangible patient impact.
As the Lead Principal Investigator of the UM Affordable Diagnostics and Therapeutics (UMADT) programme, she directs initiatives that position Malaysia as a regional hub for cost-effective diagnostics and treatments. UMADT collaborates with the International Alliance for Diagnostics and Therapeutics Advancement to promote equitable healthcare innovation across the Global South.
She is also the co-founder of the ARDENT-GS consortium, a multinational network investigating artesunate as a repurposed therapeutic option for colorectal cancer. Through close collaboration with Malaysia’s regulatory agencies and generic drug manufacturers, the consortium facilitates clinical validation and scalable access. Ultimately, these partnerships support her mission to reduce global healthcare inequities and deliver innovative, affordable treatments worldwide.
