Dr Henry Staines’ research covers all aspects of the physiology, molecular biology and diagnostics of infectious diseases. Following a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK, and a DPhil in Cellular Physiology at the University Laboratory of Physiology, Oxford, UK, he was awarded a Wellcome Trust Research Career Development Fellowship and a subsequent Lectureship to study molecular parasitology at St George’s University of London, UK (now City St George’s). He is now a Reder in Global Health with particular interests in parasitology (including the identification of drug targets and the understanding of resistance mechanisms) and point-of-care diagnostics development in collaboration with industry.
